Another school week nearing an end

August 21, 2008

It has been over a week now that school has been in progress. The students are slowly getting used to being in school although many would prefer to still be home.

I have signed up for nine graduate credits this semester. Talk about throwing oneself over a cliff! I decided though that I wanted to learn this info ASAP and going one class at a time wasn’t going to get me where I wanted to go. Hopefully I won’t end up with that many classes next semester but you never know.

I am going to a rughooking workshop at Judy Cripp’s this weekend. I have cut way back on that for now but will try and enjoy the day. We are making 2 small mats, one of Santa and one of a scarecrow. It should be cute.

Where have I been?

August 18, 2008

School started Wednesday for the kids so I have been trying to get things (and myself) organized. I think it should be an easier year than last year as I don’t have so many students at once. Let’s hope anyway.

One of the reasons I haven’t written much as I had surgery on my left index finger the Tuesday before I had to report to work and the stitches came out on the first day of school. Such timing. It still hurts so I might end up going to physical therapy anyway. At least it isn’t locking up anymore. Now if I could just straighten it up.  Isn’t this an impressive bandage? It is off now but it was good for one day of people wondering what was going on.

I have the ceramic tile cut and grouted now. I got most of the main wall painted and am working on cleaning things up. It was definitely a challenge using just one hand and trying to keep the other one dry. I guess the tile job is a bit on the rustic side but it is an improvement.

I wish the grouting was a little neater as I have a yellowish haze that I havn’t gotten all off yet but maybe it will come off with wear.

I got notice I won a skein of yarn off one site I frequent on Ravelry. I will be interested in seeing what it looks like.

Progress is slow

In the middle of a heat wave, I am painting the kitchen yellow, tiling and grouting the tile flooring and cleaning the refrigerator. Jim is changing oil and mowing the yard. So much for enjoying the weekend.

Monday I go see the surgeon about my hand. I am tired of this trigger finger business.

Tuesday I have a meeting at the Co-op from 2-4. Friday it is back to work for the school year. I imagine I will be up there a bunch of days getting things into order.

I do believe there is rug hooking on Saturday. There is something to look forward to. I need to get my Christmas present rug finished. There is just a bit to finish hooking and then the binding to do. I am so far ahead this year on my shopping and crafting I can’t believe it.

Back to tiling

August 1, 2008

I stopped in at school for a bit to see what needed to be done. The room looks alright but the computer kept shutting down Safari. I hope this isn’t a harbinger of what this year will be like. Maybe it will be straightened out by next week.

Jim borrowed a tile saw from someone at work so I am back at it again. We got the frig pulled out last night so I am going to tile back there. Before it goes back though I had better paint that wall.  I hope to get to grouting sometime this weekend. Watch for a picture soon.

It is supposed to be in the 100s the next few days. Jim will notice it the most. 😦
