We’re making spoons

February 16, 2009

This weekend was a flurry of things to do. First Jim and I went to the Fireman’s Pancake Feed. After that it was off to the wood carver’s carve in to carve a spoon. My spoon is made of apple wood and Jim’s wood is made of buckthorn. I was having a difficult time as the apple seemed difficult to carve.

After a few hours, I was ready to take it to a belt sander or power tool as progress was pretty slow. Part way through, I went into Topeka to go to the rug hooking event

We meet once a month to hook. It is great fun. Then I hurried back to the carve in to pick up Jim and work a little more on my spoon.

I finally finished Colin and Julie’s rug that was theirĀ  Christmas present. It just has to be pressed and labeled. It is the vintage postcard of Minnesota. I hope they like it. I can’t get the pictures to upload so will try that again later.Nola Heidbreder

I found a neat quiz

February 12, 2009

While reading blogs on ravelry, I found this neat quiz. It seem like an interesting diversion. I was pleased with the results.

Your result for The Classic Dames Test…

Katharine Hepburn

You scored 19% grit, 14% wit, 48% flair, and 29% class!

You are the fabulously quirky and independent woman of character. You go your own way, follow your own drummer, take your own lead. You stand head and shoulders next to your partner, but you are perfectly willing and able to stand alone. Others might be more classically beautiful or conventionally woman-like, but you possess a more fundamental common sense and off-kilter charm, making interesting men fall at your feet. You can pick them up or leave them there as you see fit. You share the screen with the likes of Spencer Tracy and Cary Grant, thinking men who like strong women.
