Recently a dear friend of mine past away at the age of 85. She was a mentor to me. She taught me about painting and encouraged me. When she had a devastating stroke, she managed to work her way out of the nursing home and taught others to paint while teaching herself to paint again. It was always entertaining to visit her and see the chickens that would occasionally share the house with her. She painted beautiful floral paintings and my favorite was of a bunch of lilacs she painted. If you ever get a chance to see her work, by all means do it. Her obituary can be seen at http://www.thehawkeye.com/Story/obit-Thayer-052508
