Clean, clean, clean the house

June 18, 2008

Progress is slow. I can see the floor in the kitchen. The sock knitter is boxed up. The bedding in the guest room is in the wash. Last night I did manage to weed out the car. Wouldn’t you know it though that when I got in the car today, another empty water bottle popped up. Right after I sent the recycling into town so I wouldn’t have to look at it anymore.

I don’t know how we are going to get to Indiana yet. The bridge is still closed in Burlington and I am not sure when it will crest there.

I met a friend up in Holton for lunch today. We met at Buzzard’s Pizza on the square. I highly recommend the chicken fajita pizza. From there we looked in a couple of stores and finally ended up at Quilting on the Square. I think I found a good project for this summer. Check out the colors. I thought it might make a good log cabin quilt. What is really cool about this is that it is already cut into 2 1/2 inch strips.

We survived the storm

June 6, 2008

Roses outside my housePeople in this part of Kansas spent an anxious night. Weather forecasts ran continually last night. Apparently the weather conditions were similar to a bad storm in 1974 so people were very concerned.  Fortunately for us, we only got rain, wind and lightning. They opened up schools though in Topeka and the Expocenter starting at 6 p.m. so people could go there for shelter.

The roses in front of my house have opened.

I am bummed though as the Queen Anne’s Lace is spreading so fast that I haven’t been able to get ahead of it yet.

Today Heather and I went to Holton to take part in the quilt shop hop. Quilting on the Square

is one of my favorite quilt stores to go to. The staff is so friendly and it is fun to see what their latest projects are.quilt shop hop quilt
